The Future Return of Sunday Morning Services in church and Current plans for Advent - Fri 25th Sep

Please see attached the list of who is in each choir.

Also please see the attached updated risk assessment following the latest changes in guidelines.  This remains the same except that we shall be singing mainly in smaller groups eg. Half-choirs.  PLEASE FOLLOW THE RULES – no adults must mingle when we meet.  If adults persist in not following the rules it is now illegal and we could be fined.  If adults cannot follow the rules then we can’t meet as SATB choir.  Please keep reminding each other. Here is a summary of the attached rules.  For everybody’s safety we MUST take this seriously.

  • Do not come if you are at all unwell or have been told to self-isolate

  • Check in with track and trace registration on arrival

  • Follow one way system without stopping – keep moving to avoid bottlenecks

  • Only remove masks once everyone is in their places

  • Bring your own water bottle and pencil (and take them home again).  Have a wee before you come to choir.

  • Wipe down your place on arrival and at the end AND PUT YOUR OWN WIPE IN THE BIN AT THE END

  • Keep your distance (including from trebles) and DO NOT MINGLE – this includes the break before evensong.

Friday Rehearsal is Decani Choir – 6.30pm Trebles, 7.30pm Full

No Sunday morning service in church.

Sunday Evensong for Decani Choir – rehearsal 4.45pm service 6.30pm

Next Friday October 2nd and Harvest Festival on the morning of October 4th will be the turn of Cantoris Choir.

Sunday morning services and Plans for Advent/Christmas

After discussion with Tracy, I had expected regular Sunday 10am services to resume in church starting with Harvest Festival.  However, with the exception of next Sunday’s Harvest Festival Services, it seems we are waiting for a permanent internet link to church to be set up to allow streaming of these services before they can resume.  So it looks like Sunday 10am services will revert to Zoom in the short term and we shall continue to provide recorded music for that.  I know that this will be a disappointment.  I’m considering whether we increase the amount of Choral Evensongs in the meantime??

On a more positive note we are planning to live-stream the Advent Carol Service with full choir on 29th November – More details to follow.  In addition to recording some Christmas music in November I am also exploring the possibility of live-streaming Nine Lessons and Carols on December 20th and Christmas Morning Service on 25th December with full choir. Instead of Midnight Mass this year there will be an online broadcast of our ‘Candlelit Carols from Mellor Church’ recording which will also be shown in church on the days leading up to Christmas (alternating with a recording of the crib service).

Best wishes, Tom.

Hello everyone.  Sorry if you have been having trouble booking in to attend Decani Choir’s Choral Evensong on a Harvest theme this Sunday.  Please do come.  We have room for 24 in the congregation and

Well done everyone at Friday’s rehearsals for following the precautions well.  The Decani Choir were sounding excellent under Matthew’s direction and we should have a lovely Choral Evensong prepared.
